LUUMS Composers' Collective 2023/24
LUUMS Composers Collective ofrece una plataforma para que cualquier estudiante componga música, realice su trabajo cada trimestre en presentaciones de conciertos y conciertos, y pase tiempo con otros compositores. Damos la bienvenida a todos los estilos musicales, desde cuartetos de cuerda y obras corales, hasta cantautores y piezas electrónicas experimentales.
Somos una sociedad muy social y colaborativa y, a menudo, trabajamos juntos en piezas, lo que se ha convertido en una forma divertida de conocerse y aprender más sobre la composición. Recientemente colaboramos con MME Society (Music Multimedia and Electronics) para un concierto informal en Hyde Park Book Club. Por supuesto, también trabajamos con los artistas maravillosos de LUUMS para que nuestras piezas se conviertan en realidad.
¡Nos reunimos todos los miércoles por la tarde de 3 a 5 p. M. En la Escuela de Música para discutir nuevas piezas, música que nos apasiona y, por supuesto, para componer! También organizamos eventos sociales como viajes a Old Bar, asà como el viaje anual al mundialmente famoso Huddersfield Contemporary Musical Festival cada noviembre. ¡También hay muchas redes sociales LUUMS más amplias, que es una excelente manera de conocer personas de ideas afines y potencialmente aquellos que interpretarán tu música!

Rhys Wilford (he/him)
Manager
Rhys is a 4th year Meng Electronic Engineering student from Sheffield. He has been a keen guitar player since the age of 8 and feels most at home writing and arranging for rock ensembles. He draws inspiration from a wide range of sources and takes every opportunity to discover new music. Rhys has spent the past two years as a departmental member of LUUMS and felt like now it was finally a good time to jump in to contributing towards an ensemble, with Composers Collective being the perfect fit! He is excited to help grow the collective and explore new musical avenues with the group, building on the success of last year’s team.​
Melissa Wright (she/her)
Manager
Melissa (she/her) has enjoyed being part of composers collective throughout her uni years. She is dedicated to growing composers collective and creating opportunities for composers and songwriters to have their music performed to an audience. Melissa composes for a range of styles and ensembles, recently taking a larger interest into composing for brass band. Other compositional and musical insterests include playing in bands, song-writing, and writing for smaller chamber ensembles. She is grateful for the opportunities and confidence she has gained through composers collective and is excited to work to support the composers in LUUMS.
